Home with a view in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico

/ 3,627

We are a family of 3 from Portland, Oregon in the US and we've been traveling since 2014. You can read about our experiences in Southeast Asia, Europe, and Mexico at http://www.meanderingfamily.com/, but we've been horrible about keeping it up since we settled down in Mexico.

We're interested in house swaps that allow us to continue our adventures.

Beautiful San Miguel de Allende, Mexico is perfect any time of year. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, San Miguel de Allende has rich history, stunning colonial architecture, galleries, artisan workshops, boutiques, and an amazing food scene.

Our home is a comfortable, light-filled, and spacious 2 bedroom/2 bath home with lovely views and plenty of Mexican charm. You can see the famous Parroquia from the terrace and you can often watch the celebratory fireworks shows from the comfort of the couch. This house includes a fully equipped modern kitchen, wifi, dishwasher, washer and dryer, TV with cable, DVD Player, Wii console and games, a plant-filled terrace and a lush green courtyard with a chiminea, 4 gas fireplaces, boveda ceilings, a living room that seats 9 and a dining table seats 8-10, garage, and weekly maid service.

The living room has a gorgeous boveda ceiling, two huge floor-to-ceiling windows with screens to keep the bugs out, seating for 9, rugs over tile floors, a flatscreen TV with cable and a DVD player, and a large gas fireplace. The dining room features beautiful, hand-carved, furniture that seats 8-10 people. There is also a plant-filled atrium that provides extra light and a breath of fresh air.

The master bedroom has a king sized bed, a sitting nook with a plush loveseat, and a gas fireplace. The 2nd bedroom has 2 twin beds, a gas fireplace, and a TV with a game console and DVD player. There is a small office with a desk and a printer. We provide extra blankets and comforters for the winter months as well as good old fashioned hot water bottles to keep you extra toasty. In the hall closet you will find plenty of boardgames to keep your family entertained.

San Miguel de Allende is known for it’s perfect weather and you’ll be able to savor it from the outdoor living spaces. The terrace is on the same level as the main living area and overlooks beautiful homes, flowers, trees, and Centro. Enjoy your morning coffee while you relax in the cool air, taking in the view, which might include a hot air balloon or two. Eat dinner or have a glass of wine in the evenings as you see the city lights twinkle. If fireworks are planned in Centro, you can watch them right from the terrace. The courtyard provides a cool space to relax and read or chat over a cocktail or a cup of tea. Light a fire in the chiminea if the evening is chilly.

We’re hoping to scheduling a simultaneous house swap with someone in Europe or Latin America (approx 2-12 weeks). Our dates and duration are flexible. Rent is $1200/mo, includes all utilities + weekly maid service. Weekly cost is $500.
