How to use World Schooler Exchange

Here are step-by-step instructions for using this website, whether you’re looking to post something, or to find a listing relevant to you.

I want to post something

  • Click here to create a new post.
  • You’ll be prompted to fill in a really quick registration form (then please check your email – including your spam/junk folder – for an email confirming your details).
  • You can then fill in the details of what you’re posting.
    • Title – Be as descriptive as you can, e.g. “House swap in London – 4 bed house, wanting to swap in USA”
    • Description – Include all the information you wish to share. This is a good place to put links to relevant websites as well. Treat this like a post in a Facebook group or a forum – this is your chance to communicate exactly what you’re offering, and what you’re looking for in return.
    • Category – Tick the most relevant category or categories for your listing. If you think a useful category is missing, do let us know. If you need to create the same listing in more than one category, e.g. a house for swap and rent, you can create it in one category then send a request to have it duplicated into another category.
    • Images and media – Upload up to 10 images and any information files in PDF format. Try to add at least one image to make your listing stand out.
    • Location – choose or search for a place on the map to indicate where in the world your listing is located. Note: this location is the one someone searching for your listing will find relevant, so it may be different to where you are actually located. e.g. if you’re posting about a home swap, choose the location of the home you are offering, not the location you wish to go to.
    • Terms and conditions – make sure you’ve read these (essentially they point out that use of this website is at your own risk) and ticked the box.
    • Save listing – click the save button, and you’re done.

The post will be approved by an admin (usually within 24 hours) and will go live on the website!

You can sign into your account on the website anytime to modify or remove your listings.

When someone posts a comment on your listing or sends you a private message you’ll get an email notification. Make sure to whitelist the email address to ensure all emails get through to your inbox reliably.

I want to find something

  • You can browse each category using the links in the menu.
  • You can search the whole website at any time using the search box at the top right.
    • For more specific search results, use the Advanced Listings Search box on the left hand side, or the Advanced Search link on any search results page. You can choose a specific location and view all listings in that area, or just those which contain certain words.
  • When you’ve found a listing you’re interested in, you can interact with the person who posted it. Note you need to be logged in to use these options.
    • Send a private message (you need to be logged in to see the button) to start a conversation directly with the person who posted the listing.
    • Leave a comment under the listing to say something publicly for all website visitors to see. You can ask for any additional information, or just say something nice!
