Our home is very private, set back from the road on 12 acres. We’re a 10 minute drive from two beautiful waterfalls, and the Stewiacke River is just across from our house (it’s a five minute walk to the local swimming hole). Our house is charming, with eight fireplaces, wood-panelling in many rooms, a library, and a wood stove in the kitchen. We’re just over an hour’s drive from Halifax, and 30 minutes from Truro, with plenty of parks and beaches nearby to explore.

The space

We’ve lived here with our three kids for the past six years and it’s a lovely place to rest, or run around and play. The house is set in 12 acres, which are a mix of woodlands to explore and lawn.

We just bought a new 14′ trampoline, and there’s a tire swing. We have a travel crib, high chair, baby gates for the stairs, and a bunch of other baby stuff. We can leave out age appropriate toys, and a Wii with games if you like. We provide a Chromecast for watching Netflix etc when you’re here.

When we are here we swim in the river just across from our house almost every day.

There’s a fenced in dog run for your furry friends, and great long walks to take with them on our property or off.

It is an old house, and some things are a bit wonky but we feel it adds to this almost 200 year old home’s charm.

There’s a dedicated office room with hard-wired internet connections, and wifi throughout the house.

Within an hour’s drive you can get to some spectacular beaches, which are never crowded, and several beautiful parks such as Burntcoat Head which has the highest recorded tides in the world and there you can walk on the ocean floor among otherworldly rock structures.

We set up an Instagram account for our home @StrathlorneHouse if you’d like to get more of a feel for the place.
