About Us
We are a young family of 4 (our 2 girls are 6 and 3), who have managed to create a location-independent lifestyle for ourselves (hooray!). We are based in an up-and-coming neighborhood near midtown Sacramento, but love to take extended trips multiple times each year. We are open to traveling just about anywhere in the world, so long as we can find reasonably priced plane tickets. We especially love the wild outdoors and spend much of our time hiking, biking, skiing, and playing down at the river or at the ocean. For 2018, we have a trip to Mexico planned for May and Victoria, BC in August. We’re open to both simultaneous and non-simultaneous exchanges.
Our Home, Neighborhood, and Beyond
Welcome to our home! We live just outside of midtown Sacramento where just about everything you could ever want is accessible by bike. We have an entire fleet of bikes that you can use during your stay–a long-tail cargo bike, 2 adult hybrids, 2 children’s bikes (for a 5-6 year old and 3-4 year old), and even a balance bike for the youngest member of your family. We are located within walking distance to a great park with tennis courts, a skate park, and in the spring and summer, a community pool and splash pad. Just a few blocks further and you’re in the heart of Oak Park’s Triangle District which is home to great breweries, restaurants, boutiques, and coffeeshops. Venture a little further on, and you’ll be in the heart of midtown with great grocery stores (The Sacramento Natural Food Co-op is our fave!), restaurants, farmers markets, and loads of state history down at the Capital Building and Old Sacramento. Known as the “City of Trees,” Sacramento is a charming town with wonderful access to 2 rivers, hiking and cycling trails, and is just a stones throw away from the epic beauty of Lake Tahoe, the world-class vineyards of Napa and Sonoma (and the lesser known wineries of the Sierra Foothills), San Francisco, and even Yosemite. This is an awesome region to be in if you love the outdoors–hiking, paddling, backpacking, surfing, rock climbing–you can do it all!
Our home is 2 bedrooms, 1 bath with a large backyard. We love growing food, so we’ve planted over 10 fruit trees (Fuji Apple, Asian Pear, Mandarin, Orange, Peach, Nectarine, Pomegranate, Fig, etc..) , strawberries, raspberries, and grapes. Our raised beds are planted seasonally with veggies which we hope you’ll help us to maintain and share in the bounty! We’ve recently finished building a fire pit and brick patio where you can sit back and enjoy a glass of wine or some local brew around the warm fire.
We’re happy to consider use of our Toyota Prius during your stay as well.
