Eco Family-Home in the middle of Europe, with garden and toys for the kids / 1 months swap minimum

/ 9,201

We travelled around a lot. In the beginning as backpackers oversees, later with our camping van across Europe. After that we settled down, founded a family, built a house and … started dreaming of traveling again ;-)

We educate our kids at home (homeschooler), therefore we are not tied to any school holidays and can travel almost any time. We would like to slow down pace of life and focus on family and kids again. We are a very respectful family, so your house will be in good hands. As we prefer longterm exchanges, anything starting from a months is more than welcome. Enjoy life!

House-exchanges we have done so far:
2015: 7 weeks in the Provence, France

2016: 4 weeks in the region of Bordeaux, France

2017: 4 weeks on Koh Samui, Thailand

Our family-house was planed by an award-winning architect and completed in 2012. It is oriented to the surrounding landscape with meadow, wood and mountains at the horizon.
You could say it’s a “tree house”, it certainly gives you the feeling to be surrounded by true nature. Forest on one side, a stunning view on the other side – along with the cleanest air and absolutely no “city noise”. Come and enjoy the beauty of Austria!

Most of our house was made of sustainable materials and very energy sufficient – something that matters to us also in every days life.

The ground floor houses the entrance, the wardrobe, a guest room with an extra bathroom/toilet as well as a storage, the laundry room and a big office – and a huge carport.
But really stunning is the top floor where you have the feeling to sit above all trees and you can even see the alps!
Our kitchen is combined to a huge open space with the dining area and a small living room. The kitchen is fully equipped with all you need from dishwasher to steamer, from fridge to coffeemaker, from stove to grain mill.
We have 4 bedrooms – the master bedroom with a combined bathroom with toilet and shower, 2 kids rooms with the “family bathroom” (shower and bathtub) and the guest room on the ground floor. All in all 8 people can easily sleep in our house.

The open-space-room is the hot-spot of our house. The glass front makes the room bright and full of light. The kitchen is fully equipped (dishwasher, steamer, kitchen aid, stove, coffee machine, …), the dining table fits easily 6 people and can be expanded to fit 8 persons, the small “living room” has two spacious couches. We use them for “family-cuddling”, listening to music, reading books and papers, internet surfing (WLAN) and watching movies from the web (we have no TV ;-).

Connected to the “open-space-room” is our big terrace. On warm sunny days you can slide almost the complete glass front (about 6 m) beside so that inside and outside combines to a big treeloft-atmosphere. The terrace itself is a spacious wooden deck where our kids drive their tricycles, scooters or chill in the hanging mat. Sun will be your guest from sunset till sundown, from morning to evening.

Our kids are born 2009, 2012 and 2014. You’ll find plenty of toys according to their ages – Lego, Duplo, Fischertechnik, wooden train tracks, kitchen, dolls, games, lots of books, outdoor stuff such as bicycles, scooter, stuff for the sandpit etc. Feel free to use our bicycles including children’s seat.

We have a “picking-garden” which means, almost anything that’s planted can be eaten 😉
Strawberries, rasberries, blackberries, currents, various herbs, vegetables, …
We have no fences, so even in the garden we realised the “open-space-concept”.
We use the back (north) of the garden for our BBQ (big fire-bowl) or as starting point for the kids to explore the surrounding woods and nature. For the kids we have 2 slides, a big swing, a dead-end-road to cycle on … next step will be a big sandpit or even a treehouse.

The spacious carport not only houses your car, but also our bikes – which you are very welcome to use. Even though our house is on a hill, the nearby danube bicycle trails leads all the way through austria and neighboring countries.

We have a VW Transporter T5 with 5 seats. It’s like a VW California with an upfoldable roof (2 people can sleep there) and a kitchen/shower/fridge/cooking stove combination. All of us can sleep in the bus. We also have a tent wich can be docked to the bus.
It’s our only car so we normally take the car with us (within Europe).

Linz – as our nearest city – has got an airport with quite good connections to major european cities, a main train station as well as a motorway with connection to the main motorway network.
You can go from Linz to our house either by car, train or bus in approximately 15 minutes (the bus station and railway station is nearby – about 5 min by car and 20 min by foot).
