ABOUT OUR HOUSE
Our home is a charming 1894 Dutch Victorian house in quiet village 18 miles from New York City.
We are a short distance walk to the station and 30 minutes by train to Grand Central Station.
The house is large: it has 5 bedrooms and is on a double lot with a lovely garden. The garden is large and entirely fenced so it is very safe for children. We are on a quiet street.
We have a nursery with a crib, a boy’s room with a toddler’s bed, a girl’s room with two single beds and a master bedroom with a queen sized bed. Our fifth bedroom is taken up with the homeschool but can be “converted” to accommodate more children.
We live in a charming and safe village located in lower Westchester city (just north of NYC). We’re able to walk into town to the shops and station.
We are 10 min drive from the northern border of New York City and 18 miles or 30 minutes by train into Grand Central Station (Manhattan). We’re very close to Bronx Zoo, the Botanical Gardens (10 min drive) and Yankee Stadium. The Catskill Mountains are a short 2 hour drive away.
Nearby activities include hiking, skiing, canoeing, art galleries, NYC, theatre and broadway musicals.
ABOUT US
We are an Australian-American family and we homeschool. We have four children. Our children are well behaved and have been taught to treat our house and antiques with respect – we will expect the same of them should we stay in your home.
HOUSE SWAP
We have never done a house swap so we’re a little nervous!
We are coming to Australia in July and August 2018 and would like to find a place in or around Sydney for up to 6 weeks during that time period. Our preference is southern Sydney or south of Sydney (because this is where my family is) but we will consider all options.
We studied ancient history this year so we would love to do a house swap in Italy or Greece for a week or two at some point in 2018.
Next year we are studying medieval history so in 2019 we would love to do a house swap in France, Italy, Ireland or England for 2-4 weeks.
