We’re a family of 5 that loves being outdoors, skiing, swimming, and exploring. We are homeschooling and working remotely, and looking for a 1+ month long swap to start in January 2021 or later. Our children are ages 5, 8 and 10.

Countries we’re open to exploring include Costa Rica, Mexico, Zanzibar, Turkey, Panama. We’re also interested in temperate parts of the US. One definite requirement is reliable high speed internet access.

Our midcentury modern home was renovated in this century to contemporary standards. Walls of windows wrap the main living/dining area and overlook nearly 30 acres of conservation land. The bedrooms all have massive windows, and there are skylights throughout the home. We are located on a cul-de-sac so there is virtually no street traffic. We are completely surrounded by nature, yet are just a 10-minute drive to the subway station.

Master Bedroom: King bed (sleeps 2)
Kids’ Bedroom 1: Twin bed (sleeps 1)
Kids’ Bedroom 2: Bunk beds (sleep 2)
Living Room: Pull out queen sofa bed (sleeps 2)
Bathroom 1: Shower
Bathroom 2: Tub/Shower
Bathroom 3: Shower

We have plenty of kids’ books and toys you’re welcome to use, and if you’re traveling with a little one who needs a crib/high chair we can borrow them for you to use.

We do have a hypoallergenic, non-shedding dog and we would be open to talking about doing a dog swap as well, or we’ll find a friend to take care of her. Most people with allergies have no trouble when visiting our home but we want to disclose it.

Our hometown Lexington, Massachusetts is known as “The Birthplace of American Liberty” as it was the site of the first battle of the American Revolution. This history is richly woven into the experience of visiting our town today, which maintains a networks of historic house and tavern museums staffed by tour guides in historical costumes. The town center has many vibrant restaurants and shops as well as the library, Battle Green, and visitors center. Our kids love to visit the library with an extensive children’s section and then go across the street for ice cream at Abbot’s Creamery. The subway station is just a 10-minute drive and provides quick access to Harvard Square and all Boston and Cambridge have to offer. If you ski, there are smaller downhill ski mountains as close as 45 minutes away, and the larger mountains in New Hampshire are 1-2.5 hours’ drive.

About COVID 19: Our state of Massachusetts has had a robust response to the COVID 19 pandemic, similar to how most EU countries responded. Testing is widely available with quick results. Currently, most businesses are open with restrictions (i.e. museums are open but you must have an advance reservation), many restaurants have indoor dining open at 50% capacity. Many businesses and attractions have switched to operate on an outdoor model. Mask usage is extremely high compared to other parts of the US – I haven’t seen anyone inside a store not wearing a mask since last spring.
