THE SPACE / AREA
We live in Bloomfield, right next to Montclair NJ (the “suburbs of Manhattan”). It’s a wonderful neighborhood for friendly faces and quiet nights. There is a public city park right behind the house with playground, basketball courts, baseball fields, and running around areas.
Our house itself is an older house. We have been slowly updating things (i.e. dishwasher in the kitchen, new paint, etc). However some things are still in process – like the 70s style bathroom (green on green on green) and the floors (original, beautiful floors .. but a little noisy).
Our unfinished basement is set up for kids play with a play-kitchen, easel, train table, and tons of toys. We also have a ton of books available. Our kids rooms currently are a single bed and a toddler bed (converted crib).
ABOUT US
We’re a family of four. Mom works for a nation-wide summer day camp but has the flexibility to work from anywhere outside of summer time. Dad is a SAHD and house painter. Kids are 5 and 2.5. We’d likely also travel with one set of grandparents.
YOUR VISIT
We’re happy to share information about how to get around. There is a grocery store within walking distance of the house, as well as lots of restaurants that deliver. It’d be possible to get by without a car but easier with one.
Getting into NYC is incredibly easy from our place, with either the direct bus (which has a stop just down the street) or driving (pre-pay for parking at a garage).
Consider coming during some of the following times to enjoy the nearby entertainment:
– New York City Lunar New Year Parade and Festival (January)
– New York City Restaurant Week (January/February)
– Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show (March)
– St. Patrick’s Day Parade (March)
– New York Easter Parade (March)
– Tribeca Film Festival (April)
– Cherry Blossom Festival at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden (April)
– Macy’s Flower Show (April)
– Opening Day at Yankee Stadium and Citi Field (April)
– Fall Fashion Week (September)
– Village Halloween Parade (October)
– New York City Marathon (November)
– Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade (November)
– Holiday Windows on Fifth Ave, Rockefeller Tree Lighting (December)
– New Years Eve in Times Square (December)
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We’re open to pretty much anywhere as long as it’s not during summer. Ideally we’d be looking for 3-4 weeks or more.
Non-smoking swaps only.
