First Intercultural Freelearners Summit in Greece

/ 192

My family is located in the southern part of Greece, in Laconia region of the Peloponnese and we just love this place! Natural beauty, unspoiled beaches and fabulous food (by the way we follow a plant based diet). Since homeschooling/unschooling is considered illegal in Greece, we decided to follow a more nomadic life by taking a year off from schooling to travel around Europe. Now we are back in our base and to tell you the truth we miss like minded families who can appreciate all that this superb location has to offer and that’s why we make every attempt possible to connect. We even organised the first Worldschoolers summit in January 2016 and we had a great time with our visitors. For the moment I am gaining valuable insights into homeschooling/unschooling from our visitors, since we started organising events here at out Porto Grana worldschoolers hub. It is a fascinating experience to talk with so many different but like minded parents and meeting the children. Personally I follow a secular free thinking attitude towards learning through living our life.

Fancy 7 days full of activities during winter with your kids in one of the best locations in Europe? This is a unique opportunity to meet and get to know other like minded parents from all over the world and have the chance to explore the hidden treasures of this magnificent place. This is an invitation to all Freelearners (homeschoolers/unschoolers and worldschooling families), to join us for a memorable week which we will spend visiting interesting locations (some of them off the beaten track) like the old frankish castle town of Monemvasia (the Greek Gibraltar), explore the ruins of the oldest underwater ancient city in Greece, while harvesting olives and learning the way olive oil is produced. Biking (the bicycle lending club is located next to our hub) and hiking are also our options to discover the unspoilt scenery of southeastern Lakonia in the Peloponnese. Activities will include getting to know the local traditional cuisine and wild greens foraging.

Accommodation for seven nights will be offered by a local hotel with apartments that may serve a family of up to 6 people. Each day, dinner will be cooked from locally sourced products (vegan and vegeterian) and served in our hub. Pick up (and return journey) from Athens or Kalamata international airports may be an option if booked early at an extra cost.
